Friends of Fugaise

March 14, 2009 was Fugaise's last day of business. I truly appreciate all the generous support you have shown me and my staff over the past few years. It was extremely flattering that many of you wanted me to contact you when I knew what my next cooking venture was going to be, so here it is... I am embarking on an adventure with Mr. John Rupp, owner of The University Club and W.A. Frost in St. Paul. I'll be working on two very exciting projects. The first is to run his unique island getaway in Wisconsin called Stout's Lodge. This is an existing property with a great reputation - it's a place where I have the opportunity to positively impact both the food and service. The second project will involve reopening a historic restaurant/bar in St. Paul later this year called The Commodore. I can't wait to start working on these projects! I again want to express how thankful I am for all the support at Fugaise. It was a great 3 1/2 years but things move on. I hope when I see some of you at either one of these new places, you will find yourselves as excited as I will be to be there! I look forward to cooking for you again.

Fugaise is Chef Don Saunders' creation. Saunders was classically trained at Le Cordon Bleu in London. Locally, he contributed to the success of Vincent and La Belle Vie before leading St. Paul newcomer A Rebours to "Best New Restaurant in 2004" (Mpls/St. Paul magazine). Fugaise has received warm praise both locally and nationally from Bon Appetit, Gourmet Magazine, and other food-focused publications. Chef Saunders is consistently applauded for his focus on the food and unwillingness to take shortcuts. Chef Saunders is occasionally available for private dinner parties in your home. These exclusive events are not your typical "catered" event. Instead, the five to nine course meal is prepared in your kitchen. Please call or email for more information.

Fugaise is located at 308 East Hennepin Avenue, just north of downtown Minneapolis. Get detailed directions to Fugaise. Get a map to Fugaise. Fugaise is open for lunch M-F, 11:30am-2pm. We serve dinner M-Th, from 5-10pm, F-Sat, 5-11pm. We are closed Sunday. Fugaise is available for corporate events and private parties. Call Dan McHale at 612-426-0777 to find out more. Plenty of convenient parking is available. You can park in the lot next to the Panera at University and Hennepin Ave (southwest corner), or you can park at meters on the street or in the lot across from Bibelow on University.
